Youtube videos on commercial website?

I have two questions, both similar. We operate ecommerce websites %26amp; have the following questions.

If we sell a widget %26amp; see someone on youtube that has posted a video of that widget, can we embed that video in our ecommerce website, or do we require permission from the person who created the video?

2nd Question - Can we take videos of our widgets, post them on youtube %26amp; also embed those videos in our ecommerce sites? In other words, can we use youtube for that commercial type reason.

Appreciate all the help.

Hi Steve,

You can always display examples of people using widgets on your site. You do not need to ask their permission technically to embed their video on your site, but it is always a good practice if you are looking to foster positive customer feedback.

In response to your second question, you are always allowed to post commercial videos and embed them on your site. This is the beauty of YouTube! I work for a large interactive firm and we do this frequently for clients. The primary reason for allowing this is each embedded video is also promotion for YouTube.

Hope this helps!
