ViDeOs WoNt PlAy On CoMpUtEr!!!?

Ok so i just got a camera a DXG-506V the kind with the flip screen thingy lol [im not the best with electronics] and it shoots videos as well as pictures so i shot a video of me and some friends goofing around and it plays fine on the camera but when i upload them onto my computer the pictures come up fine in the gallery and the videos come up with like a image of a movie strip on em and then i click on them and it asks me where i want to play it and i click windows media player or center [ive tried both-i have a windows vista computer] and when i click on them you can hear the sound but you cant see the videos at all it just shows the little animation things that it does when you play music...ive read the manual and there nothing in there that says that i need like another cord or a disc to install in fact it doesnt even come with one you just plug up the usb cord and your good to go so ive tried everything i can think of and nothing soooo.... help me out! urg..very frustrated = ]

Hello... now you've missed one big info - HOW did you transfer the video in your computer. (because different transfers create different files)





So - since I do not know what file is your video in (avi? mpeg1? mpeg2?) here is general answer - situation you described (audio OK, but animation instead video) happens when your PLAYER (=not the software you used to transfer video) does not have proper video codec.


Like if the video is in DV format, your windows media player needs to have DV codec. OR is it DivX? If your transfering software recorded in DivX 6 and your WMP has only DivX 5, it will play exactly what you described.


So look for video codec in the format you need.


And I would start with KLM codec Vista package - it has probably all of them:-)

Reply:Have you tried to access the video with the software that came with the camera?? Have you tried to play it with Realplayer??
